Title of the Position: In-Home Care Worker – Childcare
Job Duties:
Seeking a compassionate and experienced Child Care Provider to care for two children in home, one of whom has a developmental and physical disability. The successful candidate will provide full-time, childcare with some specialized duties. Duties include:
· Assisting with am and pm personal care tasks such as hygiene, dressing, and mobility support
· Providing one-on-one attention and tailored therapeutic activities that support the developmental needs of the child with a disability
· Administering tube feeds and managing proper nutrition management for both children
· Administering medications for chronic health conditions of a special needs child, via tube and asthma medications
· Engaging in therapeutic activities tailored to my children’s developmental needs
· Monitoring and responding to medical and behavioral needs promptly and appropriately
· Ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for both children
· Providing emotional support, consistent routines, and positive behaviour guidance
· Driving one or both children to school, medical appointments, and therapy (mileage reimbursed)
· Planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for both children, considering any dietary restrictions
· Supervising rest periods, homework time, and recreational activities
· Performing light housekeeping duties related to the children (tidying play areas, cleaning up after meals, laundry)
· Communicating effectively with parents, school professionals and therapists involved in the child’s care
· Promoting an inclusive, respectful, and supportive home environment
Terms of Employment: Permanent, full-time: 40 hours per week.
It is an irregular schedule without standard daily hours due to the nature of the employer’s work. The employer is employed as a registered nurse and works 12-hour shifts, days and weekends. The employee shall be entitled to 2 days off per week; however, these days will vary depending on the employer’s work schedule.
The regular (non-overtime) wage per hour being offered to the employee is $22 per hour Language of Work:English
Wage: $22.00-$24,00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications; performance-based raises considered. Overtime hours will be paid at a rate of 1.5x the regular rate after 40 hours per week.
The employer will review and adjust the employee’s wages at least once a year to ensure they meet or exceed the prevailing wage rate for the occupation in Calgary, where the employee is employed.

Benefits Package: 2 weeks’ paid vacation per year (80 hours); mileage reimbursement when transporting children.
Private health insurance shall be provided for any period of employment that the employee is not covered by the Alberta provincial healthcare benefit.

Skills Requirements:
Education: Completion of a nursing program, child development, or a related health/childcare field preferred
Experience: Minimum of 6 months of related childcare experience is required
Must be physically capable of lifting up to 70 lbs
Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Strong time management and communication skills
Experience working in a disability-inclusive and positive environment is an asset
We strongly encourage candidates who have experience with medically complex children or special needs to apply. A background in nursing, occupational therapy, or similar healthcare support roles is an asset. If the successful candidate does not have prior training or educational background in caring for a child with a gastric feeding tube, training will be provided.
The caregiver is not required to live in the home of the employee.
