Position Description

The Improvement Specialist- Accreditation has primary oversight and leadership responsibilities for centralized hospital functions related to Accreditation:

Here's what you'll get to do (Key Areas of Responsibility)

· Collaborate to collect evidence and assess hospital-wide compliance with Required Organizational Practices, team standards, frameworks, policies, indicators, best practices, and guidelines.

· Assist with the distribution, evaluation, and analysis of Accreditation Canada self-assessments and quality tools (e.g., Patient Safety Culture Survey)

· Work with the Quality Management team, Accreditation Team Leads, and leadership to develop, implement, evaluate, and monitor processes to fulfill all Accreditation Qmentum Program requirements and address any gaps to ensure survey readiness

· Help with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of accreditation preparedness with Accreditation Team Leads in local areas

· Contribute to the creation of reports and presentations that highlight the organization's assessment results, key milestone statuses, and accreditation readiness for presentation to various leadership groups.

· Aid in the development and delivery of educational and communication strategies.

· Establish solid relationship management with Accreditation Canada and the organization to ensure continued momentum and ongoing facilitation and coaching of improvement work with various teams.

· Uploading/managing submission of required information using the AC electronic portal

· Participate as a member of Committees and working groups as required.

Here's what you'll need (Skills or Experience Required)

· Master's degree in health administration (MHSc), business administration (MBA), nursing (MN) or quality improvement science (MSc or equivalent)

· Minimum three (3) years clinical experience in a health care required

· Experience in Quality Improvement, Process Improvement, Patient Safety and Emergency Preparedness in combination with clinical or administrative work experience in acute care hospital

· Previous experience/knowledge of the Accreditation Canada Qmentum process, Accreditation Canada standards and Required Organizational Practices and key legislation such as, the Excellent Care for All Act

· Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Windows Operating System

· Knowledge and understanding of the principles of High Reliability Organization (HRO)

· Comfortable with ambiguity and constant change

· Excellent written and verbal communication

· Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities

· A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion

Skills or Experience Desired:

· Lean Six Sigma- Yellow Belt Certification

· Lean Six Sigma- Green Belt Certification

· C-Quips Course Certification

· Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
