Job summary

PureLogic IT is seeking an Implementation Specialist – Senior Linux and Cloud Engineer to design, implement and manage enterprise Linux systems and cloud solutions (AWS/Azure/GCP). Based in Kanata, ON, with potential weekly travel to client sites, you will drive automation, security and scalable infrastructure.

You will lead projects, advise clients, mentor teammates, and collaborate across DevOps and security to deliver IaC and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of Linux system administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
• 3+ years cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Scripting with Bash, Python or PowerShell required.
• Strong automation experience with Ansible, Terraform or similar.
• Solid networking knowledge: firewalls, VPNs, load balancers.
• Experience with monitoring tools and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of client engagements, ensuring on-time delivery.
• Act as technical advisor to clients and internal stakeholders with updates and risks.
• Mentor junior team members with code/design reviews and guidance.
• Design, deploy, and manage Linux-based on-prem and cloud infrastructure.

• Automate provisioning and config management via Ansible/Terraform/Puppet.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, optimize resources.
• Collaborate with DevOps/Security to implement IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement backup, DR, and patch management strategies.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and document procedures.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Implementation Specialist – Senior Linux and Cloud Engineer to join our Professional Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-grade Linux systems and cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP). You will play a key role in driving automation, performance, security, and scalability across hybrid infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and technical execution of client engagements, ensuring projects are delivered on time and aligned with client requirements.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor by communicating project progress, risks, and architectural recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach junior team members by providing technical leadership, code and design reviews, and opportunities for skills development.
• Design, deploy, and maintain Linux-based infrastructure in both on-prem and cloud environments.
• Build and manage highly available, secure, and scalable cloud architectures.
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes environments and supporting software.
• Automate system provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
• Monitor systems performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and security teams to deliver infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and patch management strategies.
• Ensure systems comply with organizational security and compliance standards.
• Document infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on Linux systems administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
• 3+ years of experience managing cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Strong experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, etc.).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Dynatrace, Morpheus, Prometheus, etc.). is a plus.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a strong plus.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Beneficial Qualifications

• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate).
• Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKS.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
• Exposure to security best practices and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc).
• Experience in air-gapped environments.
