Job Purpose:

The Impact Microgrant Program Coordinators will play a pivotal role in the administration and coordination of a new microgrant program aimed at supporting youth-led projects that address community needs. This program will deliver a total of 180 microgrants over a three-year period to youth aged 15-30, with a focus on Indigenous and under-served populations. Working collaboratively, two Coordinators will share responsibility for the program development and the coordination of the cohorts of participants. One Coordinator will be primarily responsible for Trent University student participants and the other for community participants.

The key objectives of the Impact Microgrant Program include:

  • Creating, promoting, and facilitating access to meaningful volunteer service opportunities for youth, including Indigenous and under-served youth.
  • Equipping youth with the knowledge, skills, tools, and supports needed to successfully complete their projects.
  • Supporting youth in designing and implementing projects that address community needs.

Key Activities:

Curriculum Advisory

  • Advise on the curriculum to be delivered to a group of youth, preparing them to design and deliver a project with a budget. Collaborate with a team of staff members (Education Team) who will curate and design the educational modules, providing input as needed.

Program Coordination

  • Oversee the intake, selection, and management of microgrant applications.
  • Coordinate program delivery to participants.

Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with the other Impact Microgrant Program Coordinator.
  • Work in collaboration with coordinators from the Office of Student Affairs and Careerspace to leverage their expertise and resources in developing the microcredential curriculum and other content for the Impact Microgrant Program participants to complete prior to implementing their project.

Community Engagement

  • Foster relationships with campus and/or community partners to promote the program and recruit participants.

Support and Mentorship

  • Provide guidance and support to youth participants, helping them design and implement their projects.

Fund Management

  • Responsible for adhering to a program budget, facilitating the disbursement of microgrant funding, and acting in compliance with the grant contribution agreement requirements.

Promotion and Outreach

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote the program to the Trent University campus and/or external youth in the community.

Report Writing

  • Prepare detailed reports on program progress, outcomes, and financial management for internal and external stakeholders.

Education Required:

  • Honours Bachelor’s Degree (4 years).

Experience/Qualifications Required:

  • Two (2) years of experience in program coordination and project management, in a higher education or non-profit setting. Cumulative related experience will be accepted.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including proficiency in Excel and budget tracking tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with grant management and fund disbursement is an asset.
