Job summary

SYSTRA Canada is a leading engineering and consulting firm delivering transportation solutions and design expertise. This role focuses on Lighting and Traffic Signal design for municipal or provincial projects, developing layouts and photometric plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

You will coordinate with stakeholders, prepare technical reports, and support field activities such as inspections and commissioning, leveraging 3–5 years of illumination or signal design experience.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in illumination or traffic signal design.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a college diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D or AutoCAD is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings using CAD and supporting calculations.
• Design traffic signalization and street lighting systems for municipal or provincial projects.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Generate drawings in various formats for project stakeholders.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders and maintain project documentation.

Context

In this role you will contribute to the successful design, production, coordination and management of Lighting/ signal design projects. You will develop lighting systems designs in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D such as layout, single line diagrams, wiring schematics, photometric layouts, grounding details, prepare and review wire sizing, voltage drop and conduit capacity calculations. You will also be responsible for coordinating utilities for electrical infrastructure and transportation-related design and construction projects along with preparing technical reports, tender items, and providing field support such as commissioning and site inspections.

Missions/Main Duties

• Preparing engineering drawings using computer-aided design software and supporting calculations and documentation.
• Designing traffic signalization and street lighting systems for municipal or provincial projects.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Generating drawings in various formats for approval and use by project stakeholders.
• Understanding electrical distribution systems to design and modify drawings.
• Performing project administration functions such as drawing distribution and management, coordination, and communication with project stakeholders.
• Maintaining project information, drawings, files, spreadsheets, and records.
• Attending design and project coordination meetings as required.
• Summarizing parts and materials from available literature and databases.
• Performing subdivision inspections for assumption reviews.
• Performing contract administration functions including tender, award, quantity review, completion, and assumption work.
• Working occasional evenings or weekends to meet deadlines.
• Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Profile/Skills

• 3 to 5 years experience focused on Illumination Design / Traffic Signal Design
• Bachelor degree on Electrical Engineering or College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
• Proficient in Civil 3D or AutoCAD.

Salary Range - CAD 60,000 - 80,000
