Description

As an Ice Technician, you will be part of an elite team that operates and maintains the Markin MacPhail Center's four high-performance ice surfaces and all arena infrastructure. This position primarily involves operating ice resurfacers to ensure high-quality ice standards.

What you will be doing:

• Perform daily ice maintenance (resurfacing, scraping, edging) and arena infrastructure upkeep (dressing rooms, hallways, floors)
• Interact with customers and assist them daily
• Maintain the icehouse
• Conduct heavy cleaning, including checking and cleaning dressing rooms between rentals
• Perform weekly cleaning tasks such as arena glass, showers, and deep cleaning of players' benches and rooms
• Carry out routine facility maintenance (changing lights, painting, repairs, etc.)
• Assist with ice installations and major arena and icehouse maintenance projects
• Convert arenas for sports events, concerts, and other events (overnight)
• Provide direction, mentorship, and performance management to Rink Attendants
• Always demonstrate safe work practices by adhering to WinSport safety policies and procedures, ensuring safety for yourself, colleagues, and guests
• Perform other duties as assigned

What you bring:

• A minimum of 1-year related experience or Arena Operator Level 1 certification (asset)
• Experience with arena concert/event setup (beneficial)
• Forklift and aerial platform work experience (asset)
• Experience with Olympia LVR laser leveling system (asset)

You will be:

• Working in various climates, including extreme cold and warm weather
• Walking and/or standing for long periods on even and uneven surfaces
• Working on slippery surfaces regularly
• Lifting or carrying up to 10 pounds continuously, and up to 50 pounds frequently
• Occasionally working at heights
• Occasionally working overnight
