Job summary

The City of Vernon is hiring for a physically demanding role to operate and maintain indoor and outdoor ice arenas and aquatic facilities. You will perform custodial duties, basic repairs, monitor equipment, and ensure ice and water quality while delivering excellent customer service to facility users.

Hours vary and include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Up to six positions available; valid Class 5 BC licence and RSA certificate are required candidates will be selected on an ongoing basis

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence is required.
• RSA Certificate required knowledge related to refrigeration safety.
• Experience with custodial tasks and minor repairs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial tasks including cleaning public areas, washrooms, changerooms, and pool deck.
• Carry out semi-skilled building maintenance such as painting, basic plumbing, and carpentry.
• Monitor refrigeration and aquatic mechanical equipment; record readings and report issues.
• Maintain ice and water quality and perform routine equipment repairs.
• Ensure safety regulations and city policies are followed; secure facilities after shifts.
