The Role

She works with the external NA SSHE teams and the Site Internal teams to develop and execute SSHE strategy and improvement plans to achieve sustainable SSHE excellence by reducing injuries expressed in TRFR and environmental impacts such as waste, effluents, emissions, energy consumption, and CO2 while actively participating with other departments such as Production, QA, ICMS, Logistics and Mix across the factory to ensure delivery of overall plant targets i.e. SSHE, QA, OEE, Volume and Waste. She will uphold the morale of the employees as a value in the factory and will ensure compliance to SSHE is always a priority.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible to implement and sustain the overall applicable Safety, Security & Health Programs at the plant and actively support in the Environment compliance programs as needed.
  • They would play the role of a Co-chair as part of the JHSC Management. Work with regulatory bodies (EG: MOL) and ensure the site meets all local, national, legal and NAIC standards/requirements on occupational H&S. Identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health.
  • Execute the WSIB program for the facility.
  • Responsible for the Site Safety & Security (SSRA) Risk Management (Compliance Management).
  • Lead Machinery Safety initiatives in collaboration with the production and engineering team.
  • They would be the Site Contractor/Visitor Management Process Owner.
  • Ensures the Emergency Response Management systems are up to date and active.
  • Oversee the Site Permit to Work Process and compliance. Track, summarize, and analyze safety performance indicators. Ensure implementation/execution of corrective and preventive actions in coordination with other departments.
  • Owner of Site Surveillance, Access Control, Intrusion Alarm, Man-guarding Programs.
  • Support the SSHE Manager in leading the ICMS (Ice Cream Manufacturing System) Safety pillar for the Factory and provide profound information and solutions to address internal requests and issues related to Safety & Security matters.
  • Develop and implement SHE Processes, Systems, Reporting, data analysis and continuously improve the SHE standards in coordination with SSHE manager.
  • Ensure that all Incidents are promptly reported and investigated according to the set procedures. Recommend and define actions to prevent reoccurrence and assign responsible persons to take the actions within the agreed time scale.
  • Carry out safety audits as required, assist in ensuring all safety related items/systems are kept fully functional (e.g. guards in place, machine interlocks working, etc.).
  • Organize the site CSHEC (Central Safety, Health & Environment Committee) to conduct monthly meetings with all members of the factory leadership. Support and lead safety committee meeting and site safety audits as needed.
  • Develop SSHE procedures and make timely updates as a result from any changes of processes and operations or for improvement.
  • Works closely with the Utilities Engineer and supports the PSM (Process Safety Management) Program for the plant.
  • Plays an active role in MOC (Management of Change) program.
  • Leader in behavioral safety processes at the plant.
  • Work on projects that would support individual growth in line with 3+1 targets.
  • Being an active participant in the ICMS / R2S (Run to standard) Requirements as needed in the space of Safety.
