Job summary

The successful candidate will hold a BC Certification of Teaching and a Bachelor of Education, with eligibility to work in Canada; IB PYP experience and differentiated instruction are preferred.

Qualifications

• BC Certification of Teaching is required.
• Bachelor of Education degree is required.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• First Aid certificate is an asset.
• Familiarity with International Baccalaureate PYP preferred.
• Experience teaching IB PYP or BC Elementary School is an asset.
• Knowledge of PYP content and curriculum framework is an asset.
• Knowledge of PYP core components is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Endorse the school’s mission, vision, and values.
• Model IB learner profile attributes and SJS values.
• Deliver engaging lessons in the Junior School.
• Collaborate to develop innovative PYP Junior School curriculum.
• Design and deliver inquiry-based activities to engage students.
• Assess and report student progress per PYP objectives and policy.
• Create a safe, organized, inclusive learning environment.
• Utilize technology to enhance instruction and learning.
• Participate in meetings and community events.
• Communicate respectfully with students, colleagues, and parents.
• Attend professional development and required trainings.
• Support co-curricular activities and student wellbeing.

Education

BC Certification of Teaching

Bachelor of Education

Legally entitled to work in Canada

Basic First Aid certificate (asset)
