About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) Hardware engineer to join our team. You will contribute to the early stage of a large-scale expansion project in Canada (counting ~90,000 I/O’s). Key responsibilities include driving and coordinating activities within the IACS Hardware discipline throughout the project period. When in operation, implementing and optimizing automated solutions to increase the efficiency and quality of our production processes. This position will report to the IACS Lead Engineer during the VILS project and the IACS Manager for ViaTwo after the plant is in operation.

Key Responsibilities

Project Tasks:

  • Take the role as IACS Hardware Discipline Lead Engineer during the project period and be responsible to coordinate and follow-up on all IACS hardware activities in Canada during the project period.
  • Drive and coordinate activities within the IACS Hardware discipline throughout the project period.
  • Assess proposed specifications, IACS hardware designs, equipment selections, and installation plans.
  • Support the bidding and selection process for the execution phase.
  • Address any discrepancies or deviations from Vianode standards and project specifications.

Operational Tasks:

  • Ensure safety, corporate, and quality standards are met in all processes where IACS is involved.
  • Contribute to the development and follow-up of the IACS strategies, corporate standards, and action plans, for the hardware discipline.
  • Support the IACS Manager in developing and maintaining a lifecycle plan for IACS at the Via TWO Plant.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum a bachelor's degree in automation, electrical, cybernetics, or equivalent. A higher degree is an advantage.
  • 10+ years of industry experience, especially in large-scale projects, with a special focus on tasks within IACS hardware design and implementation.
  • Good technical competence of IACS hardware, including knowledge of earthing principles, selectivity, cabinet design and installation.
  • International and multi-cultural experience (a strong asset).
  • Knowledge of Canadian codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Proven experience in team leadership or management.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Availability to travel.
  • The role will initially be performed remotely from a home office, with relocation to a local office once a physical workspace becomes available.
