Position Overview

Aecon Field Solutions Inc. (AFSI) is always on the search for exceptional craft candidates to fill our expanding project portfolios. We are focused on hiring only those exceptional individuals who value safety in the workplace and remain committed to the collective goal of maintaining our Aecon ‘zero injury’ culture.

AFSI is seeking Hydrovac Operators who will report to the appropriate site supervisor and be responsible for the safe operation of assigned equipment. When not operating equipment, the Hydrovac Operator will be expected to work with Labourers to prepare and clean up site, move materials and equipment, perform demolition, excavation and compaction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safe and professional operation of equipment to job sites, maneuvering into position, and operating the controls to regulate water pressure and vacuum suction to excavate the desired area.
  • Assessing the excavation area, identifying potential hazards, and setting up safety measures.
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections, follow company policies and procedures for performing routine inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance on the hydrovac truck to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Maintain and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements and Experience

  • CSTS-20 Certificate
  • Ground Disturbance II
  • Experience as a Hydrovac Operator.
  • Must have a minimum Class 1 or 3 license with airbrake endorsement, and a clean drivers abstract.
  • Ability to follow directions that are spoken or given by hand signals.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments.
  • Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies.
  • Experience working for a gas utility or gas utility contractor is an asset.

Project: Atco

Location: Various sites around the Edmonton area

Rate: $34.96 to $41.15 per hour

Overtime: Per collective agreement

Schedule: 5x2
