Job summary

BBA Consultants seeks an electrical engineer specializing in electrical apparatus to support hydroelectric power projects across Canada. You will work with experienced multidisciplinary teams on major projects from preliminary studies to commissioning.

Responsibilities include designing medium- and low-voltage systems, preparing drawings and specifications, and conducting site surveys during commissioning phases. A strong background in electrical power and distribution design is essential.

Qualifications

• University degree in electrical engineering and licensure with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
• Ten years of proven experience in electrical engineering, ideally in hydroelectric projects or power installations.
• Knowledge of utility standards and design methods for electrical power systems.
• Strong command of design software such as AutoCAD and related tools.
• Advanced French and English skills to collaborate with Quebec and other Canadian teams.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical power systems for hydroelectric plants, including medium- and low-voltage switchgear.
• Develop layouts and installation engineering for electrical apparatus (cabinets, bus ducts, transformers, power centres).
• Prepare and review drawings, single-line diagrams, material lists and cable schedules.
• Perform and verify electrical calculations for sizing and selecting apparatus and cables.
• Coordinate with structural, civil, mechanical, control and protection disciplines.
• Oversee CEPs and technologists on the team and participate in site visits and commissioning when required.
