Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to join our Canadian offices. A hybrid work model is possible, with registration as a Professional Engineer in the relevant province and a minimum of 5 years in transmission line design.

You will work on power line projects with a team of experienced engineers and designers, using PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE/PLS-TOWER and FE tools. Location options include NB Fredericton and other offices across Canada.

Qualifications

• Civil/Structural Engineering degree from a recognized university.
• Professional Engineer registered with a Canadian Engineering Association.
• Minimum 5 years of transmission line design and engineering experience.
• Hybrid work model: ability to work from office and home.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering and design deliverables for transmission lines from conceptual design through construction.
• Create design criteria, line layouts, structures, loading analyses, materials selection.
• Model with PLS-CADD for line modelling, profiles, structure data, BOMs, and drawings.
• Use PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, and FE tools for structure design and analysis.
• Perform route alignment and line layout studies.
• Prepare technical reports, scopes, specs, and IFC/IFT packages.
• Provide material quantities and estimates for lines and foundations.
• Support field crews during construction and site supervision.
• Participate in client discussions and coordinate with disciplines.
• Mentor EITs and junior designers.
• Familiarity with CSA/NESC/IEC/IEEE/CIGRE guidelines.
