Job summary

Alteo Inc. in Montreal is seeking a Database Administrator to own the architecture, management, and evolution of the organization's databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across systems.

You will optimize, back up, monitor, and integrate data environments, collaborate with stakeholders, and guide projects through incidents and changes. Hybrid work is available, with opportunities to work across on-prem and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of relevant experience in relational database administration (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Proficiency with Oracle and database integration is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the maintenance, optimization, and evolution of database environments (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).
• Automate processes related to provisioning, backup, restoration, and monitoring.
• Manage capacity, performance, and security while anticipating future needs.
• Implement mechanisms for the backup, protection, and long-term preservation of organizational information.
• Provide technological expertise to evolve critical data management platforms.
• Conduct technology watch activities and proof-of-concept projects.
• Contribute to the governance of data environments by ensuring compliance with security, compliance, and availability standards.
• Recommend innovative solutions to improve data management environments.
• Evaluate projects and recommend appropriate solutions to ensure system stability and performance.
• Support teams during major technological changes and promote best practices.
• Coordinate incident response, document solutions, and inform stakeholders.
• Serve as a point of contact for business units and management.

Alteo is looking for a DBA for a permanent position based in Montreal.

You will play a key role in the architecture, management, and evolution of the organization’s databases. You will be responsible for optimizing their performance, strengthening their security, and ensuring their seamless integration with existing systems. Through your expertise, you will help maintain a reliable, high-performance, and highly available data environment, which is essential to the smooth operation of our services.

Profile:

• DEC/BAC in Computer Science or equivalent
• Specialization certification in database management (e.g., DP-300, EDB-DBA, PAC) is a plus
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in relational database administration (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Excellent command of system and software environments related to database operations and integration.
• Solid experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere/VSAN).
• Very good knowledge of cloud environments (Azure SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL).
• Proficiency with PowerPlatform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).
• Clear and appropriate communication: Ability to express oneself accurately, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of stakeholders
• Problem analysis and resolution: Ability to identify issues, propose effective solutions, and make informed decisions.
