Job summary

Systematix is seeking a Software Verification Specialist to join a client’s Product Development team on a contract basis in Toronto. The role focuses on planning, executing, and documenting verification across the software lifecycle for analytical instruments.

The ideal candidate has a scientific background, laboratory method development exposure, and hands-on software testing within Agile environments. Hybrid onsite work at the North Toronto location is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemistry, engineering or related science.
• 2+ years of laboratory method development.
• 2+ years experience with Mass Spectrometry instrumentation.
• 1+ years with LC systems and peripherals.
• Experience designing test cases from lab workflows.
• Hands-on software testing including regression, system, exploratory, performance, stress, and acceptance testing.
• Experience in Agile, Scrum, XP or TDD environments is a plus.
• Experience with Omics applications is desirable.
• Exposure to cloud-based applications is a plus.
• Ability to quickly learn new lab hardware and software platforms.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Verify software products meet functional and business requirements.
• Define and refine product requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Translate high-level requirements into verification scenarios.
• Collaborate with developers, scientists, and product teams to clarify requirements.
• Design, develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test suites.
• Perform regression, exploratory, system, performance, stress, and acceptance testing.
• Validate product robustness, reliability, and overall software quality.
• Maintain verification traceability between requirements and test cases.
• Track verification progress, risks, issues, and overall test status.
• Document defects clearly and communicate findings to developers and designers.
• Support Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices.
