Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team in the Data Platform group building a unified Vehicle Data Platform that streams data between ECUs and the cloud, across Android, Linux, and QNX.

You will hire engineers, set architecture direction, own delivery from planning to field support, and collaborate with platform, cloud, cybersecurity, and privacy teams to ensure reliability, performance, and data privacy on production ECUs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years in software development or systems engineering across Android, Linux, and/or QNX.
• 2+ years managing software engineers, including hiring and performance management.
• C, C++, or Java/Kotlin proficiency for platform level integrations.
• Experience delivering software on production ECUs or devices with limited resources.
• Experience with fleet management, telemetry, or SDKs and libraries.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and develop a team of software engineers and manage performance.
• Own delivery of software in your area's control plane, data plane, SDK, and logging infra.
• Set technical direction and architecture involving control/data planes and ECU to cloud data flows.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and data privacy in production ECUs.
• Define scalable engineering practices and release criteria.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and define roadmaps based on fleet data.
