Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Passenger Modeller to shape high‑performing transit environments across Canada. This hybrid role, based in a major Canadian city, places you at the heart of projects that move people safely, efficiently, and sustainably within rail and transit.

You will develop and maintain advanced passenger modelling, lead tool-based simulations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver client-focused insights and results.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in passenger modelling or agent-based simulation in transit or urban planning.
• Proficiency in LEGION, Viswalk, MassMotion, or CAST modelling; Python and Excel/VBA for analysis.
• Experience modelling major transit facilities or CCPs.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to handle complex algorithms.
• Knowledge of MATLAB or R for data visualization and interpretation.
• Understanding of transportation systems, crowd dynamics, and human factors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain passenger behaviour simulation models for rail, bus, aviation, and urban mobility systems.
• Lead static and dynamic passenger flow modelling using LEGION, Viswalk, and MassMotion.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design integrated, human-centric simulation environments.
• Conduct validation, calibration, and testing to ensure reliability and alignment with standards.
• Produce data visualizations, analyses, reports, and client-ready presentations.
• Translate modelling outcomes into actionable client insights and support engagements.
• Stay current on crowd dynamics and modelling best practices to elevate outcomes.
• Contribute to design reviews and mobility planning problem-solving.
• Oversee outputs from junior staff on multiple modelling projects.
