Job summary

Bentley Systems in Quebec, Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Developer to lead a cross-functional software engineering squad building modern web apps. You will own frontend with React and backend with C#/.Net while aligning with Azure DevOps and GitHub CI/CD practices.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, ensure security and governance, and coordinate with product, security, and operations teams across global functions to deliver reliable software at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years working in relevant Software Engineering roles, including Senior Software Engineer.
• Proven experience leading software development teams delivering complex products or platforms.
• Strong software architecture and system design experience.
• Experience with modern cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience with software delivery platforms including Azure DevOps (ADO) and GitHub.
• Experience working in Agile software delivery environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive technical excellence.
• Experience delivering high‑quality software in environments with security, compliance, or governance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the squad’s technical direction, implementation strategy, architecture, design decisions, and engineering standards.
• Build scalable, production‑grade front‑end applications using React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as C# and ASP.Net Core Application patterns, with a focus on maintainability, accessibility, and performance.
• Deep knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs, including API and MCP design, security, versioning, performance optimization and integration with external enterprise services.
• Review technical solutions, mentor engineers, and promote maintainable, scalable and reliable system design.
• Drive best practices across software development, testing, automation, observability, security and operational excellence.
• Facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to achieve agreed objectives, priorities, and measurable commitments.
• Identify delivery risks, technical dependencies, and blockers, and drive timely resolution.
• Coordinate with other squad leaders, product teams and operational stakeholders to support successful cross‑team delivery.
• Ensure development activities meet security, compliance, and governance requirements.
• Identify opportunities where emerging technologies can create measurable business value, reduce technical debt, eliminate manual processes, and improve the developer experience.
• Use observability, operational metrics, and continuous improvement to support data‑driven decision making.
• Support incident management, production investigations, and root cause analysis when required.
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
