What You’ll Do:

• Shape Design Strategy:
  • Leverage your understanding of user interface patterns and behaviors to enhance user comprehension and task performance.
  • Utilize visualizations and interactions to facilitate analytic thinking with complex data sets.
  • Lead design critiques, assess interactions for inclusivity, and provide expert guidance to cross‑functional teams.
  • Facilitate ideation sessions and collaborative design activities.
  • Act as the subject‑matter expert for interaction design within the product design team.
• Create Impactful Artifacts:
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of interaction design theory, visual design theory, research data, and best practices to inform design decisions.
  • Develop complex low‑fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas.
  • Produce detailed prototypes to provide precise delivery specifications for development.
  • Present interaction design work to senior stakeholders, articulating your vision and rationale.
• Drive Research and Testing:
  • Facilitate usability testing sessions to gather critical user feedback.
  • Initiate and participate in various research activities to deepen user understanding.
  • Research interaction design strategies within the financial services sector and conduct competitive audits relevant to specific design or business objectives.
  • Perform detailed pattern, micro‑interaction, and component design audits as needed.

What You Need to Succeed:

Must‑have:

• BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or equivalent practical experience.
• A compelling portfolio showcasing application design samples.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms.
• Experience in an applied research setting, including integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
• Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic, clearly describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions.
• Expertise with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, and UserTesting.com.

Nice to have:

• MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
• Appreciation for the potential of ‘design thinking’.
• Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment.
