Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

MasTec is seeking a skilled HVAC / Telecom Technician to join our team. The technician is responsible for performing field service maintenance, remedial, and emergency repair on telecommunication and data centers, relating to HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain commercial cooling systems on cell tower cooling units - diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, or install and replace components of entire systems.
  • Perform additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment.
  • Demonstrate competency with installation and diagnostics to ensure professional completion of services.
  • Travel 100% as required.
  • Replace or install forced air heating, air conditioning systems.
  • Replace or install complete hydronic heating systems or refrigeration equipment.
  • Install or replace duct systems in telecommunication shelters.
  • Test electrical circuits and components for continuity using electrical test equipment.
  • Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks using pressure gauges or soap-and-water solutions.
  • Layout and connect electrical wiring according to wiring diagrams.
  • Troubleshoot low voltage control systems.
  • Understand underground gas monitoring systems (e.g., Sierra 2400, Sierra 2450, Quest).
  • Complete all necessary safety and technical training and maintain safe work practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Prior experience with underground CEV (preferred).
  • Ability to read electrical ladder schematics.
  • Basic plumbing knowledge of sump pumps.
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, dry coolers, and cooling towers.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Knowledge of HVAC codes and proper application.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and email.
  • Availability for on-call and extensive travel.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • EPA 608 Universal refrigerant card (including 410a), Types 1, 2, and 3.
  • Proficiency in PC skills, especially Microsoft and internet.
  • Understanding of telecommunications and data processing operations.
  • Compliance with FCC / FAA / EPA / OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to interpret general job-related documents.
  • Previous construction industry experience (preferred).
