Job description

Summit Search Group has been retained in the recruitment of our client’s next HVAC Service Technician. This is a key role for an experienced, well-rounded tradesperson with both HVAC-R certification and an A or B Gas Fitter license. Our team supports a wide range of heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment across diverse commercial, industrial, and institutional environments. The ideal candidate will bring broad-based field experience and the versatility to work on systems including boilers, chillers, rooftop units, controls, pumps, energy recovery ventilators, make-up air units, and heat pumps.

In this position, you will install, maintain, and repair a variety of systems, leveraging your technical expertise to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and provide proactive maintenance. You’ll also work directly with clients to explain system performance, repairs, and best practices for energy efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide range of HVAC and gas-fired systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.

Diagnose and repair issues involving mechanical, electrical, and control components across multiple system types.

Perform preventative maintenance to optimize system performance, energy efficiency, and lifespan.

Clearly communicate repair options, system performance details, and maintenance recommendations to clients.

Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, parts usage, and maintenance activities.

Work safely in accordance with industry regulations, building codes, and manufacturer guidelines.

Collaborate with team members to share expertise and support the professional development of junior technicians.

Qualifications

HVAC-R Red Seal Certification

A or B Gas Fitter license

Minimum 3 years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of HVAC and gas-fired equipment.

Broad exposure to multiple system types, such as boilers, chillers, RTUs, controls, pumps, ERVs, MUAs, and heat pumps.

Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in the field.

Proficient in reading and interpreting diagrams, schematics, and sequences of operation.

Strong customer service and communication skills.
