Come work as a HVAC - Refrigeration Mechanic with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Refrigeration Mechanic to join the team at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a HVAC - Refrigeration Mechanic with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Perform skilled work at the journeyman level, in accordance with the Mechanical Refrigeration Code and other standards/regulations, in the installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of refrigeration equipment such as chillers, heat pumps, roof top air conditioning units, package air conditioning units, blood fridges, ultra low temperature freezers, refrigerators, ice machines and refrigerated display cases.
  • Utilize meters, refrigeration gauges, leak detectors, appropriate hand and power tools and equipment such as a computer to access the Building Automation System.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Two (2) years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check. As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
