Qualifications

Job description

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking an HVAC/R Service Technician at our location in Sydney, NS. The successful candidate will maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair various HVAC/R systems within a portfolio of buildings to achieve optimum life span of the equipment.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC/R equipment in accordance with manufacturer and company specifications.
2. Complete digital work orders, detailed reports and daily digital time summaries.
3. Ensure safe working conditions are enforced and strictly adhered to in accordance with company policy.

6. 5+ years’ experience in an HVAC/R service and maintenance position for commercial sites.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

1. Red Seal Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certification.
2. Gas B (G2) Certification / Apprenticeship considered an asset.
3. Commercial Refrigeration experience considered an asset.
4. Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
5. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret Security Clearance, as well as other site-specific clearances.
6. Experience using mobile technologies considered an asset.
7. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
8. Ability to read and work from HVAC, mechanical schematics, electrical schematics, line drawings, etc.
9. Knowledge in a variety of electronic, pneumatic, and DDC control systems considered an asset.
10. Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills.
11. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to meet deadlines.
