Job summary

GDI Ainsworth in Sault Ste. Marie, ON is seeking an HVAC/R Working Foreperson to lead service technicians, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure safety and quality across service work.

The role requires a refrigeration license, Gas Fitter 1, and journeyperson experience. You will assist planning, scheduling, and budgeting while building strong client relationships and delivering efficient service.

Qualifications

• Must have 10 years experience as a certified Journeyperson or HVAC/R related experience.
• Must hold Gas Fitter 1 certificate and have knowledge of HVAC system design and building maintenance.
• Refrigeration license and ODP card required; other licenses are assets.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Perform equipment service, maintenance, and repairs; troubleshoot and prevent issues.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
• Provide technical support, training, and leadership to team members.
• Support Planning, Scheduling, Staffing, and project execution.
• Ensure safety policies are followed and inspections conducted.
• Coordinate and dispatch service technicians; oversee service delivery quality.
• Site visits to ensure performance and strengthen client relationships.
• Assist with quoting and collaborate with Sales on proposals.

Job Summary:

The HVAC/R Working Foreperson will report directly to the Regional Operations Manager and provide day-to-day support and guidance to Service Technicians. This role is responsible for overseeing service work, supporting scheduling and dispatch, ensuring quality and safety standards are met, and helping maintain strong customer relationships. The Foreperson will also provide technical expertise, support operational efficiency, and assist with team development to ensure service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Perform equipment service, maintenance, and repairs; troubleshoot and prevent issues.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
• Provide technical support, training, and leadership to team members.
• Support Operations Manager with planning, scheduling, staffing, and project execution.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and conduct inspections/meetings.
• Coordinate and dispatch service technicians; oversee service delivery quality.
• Conduct site visits to ensure performance and strengthen client relationships.
• Assist with quoting and collaborate with Sales on service/project proposals.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 10 years previous experience as a certified Journeyperson or HVAR related experience and hold a current refrigeration license and ODP card. Any additional Licenses would be considered an asset. ie OBT 1 or 2, 309A Electrician...
• Must hold Gas Fitter 1 certificate and have sound working knowledge of HVAC system design and building maintenance.
• Strong training and presentation skills.
• Excellent time management, planning and organization skills.
• A good understanding of Ainsworth products and service

The pay is $60.54 - $71.56 per hour. The compensation for this position is as per the collective agreement.
