What you will do

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Service Journeyperson with experience in commercial, industrial, and/or institutional markets to join our team. Candidates should have at least 5 years of HVAC service experience, with knowledge of maintenance procedures and troubleshooting.

How you will do it

  • Wiring, firing, cleaning, startup, and testing boilers in the field.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, transformers, transmitters, and other controls. Wiring controls and motors for water tube and fire tube boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Familiarity with condensate tanks and deaerators.
  • Reading and understanding wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Troubleshooting, firing, and setting combustion on all types of boilers.
  • Determining valve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and other parts needed for boiler firing.
  • Firing and setting combustion on boilers with pneumatic and electrical controls.
  • Maintaining tools and monitors inventory and condition.
  • Applying problem-solving, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve results.
  • Ensuring duties and projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Supporting other technicians and management with projects, including working with outside contractors and internal departments for equipment installation.
  • Willingness to learn and train on new products, assist with commissioning, startup, and warranty claims of JCI equipment.
  • Adhering to company policies.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.

How you will do it

  • Managing primary service accounts, performing maintenance visits, inspections, assessments, and recommending upgrades or repairs.
  • Building positive relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues through effective communication.
  • Providing quotes for labor and materials for repairs and upgrades.
  • Serving as the main contact for customers, servicing equipment, and ensuring satisfaction through diagnostics and repairs.
  • Using advanced software, hand tools, and blueprints to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Enforcing safety standards and maintaining asset security.
  • Working overtime and weekends as needed, including overnight stays, and being part of the on-call rotation.

What we look For

Required

  • HVAC Journeyperson status / G1
  • Good standing with LOCAL 787
  • Broad knowledge of boiler controls (Autoflame, Honeywell, Fireye, Siemens/Reillo)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and handheld devices
  • Adherence to safety policies
  • Valid driver’s license and appropriate refrigerant, natural gas, and electrical licenses
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Availability to be on-call nights and weekends on a rotating basis

Preferred

  • Over 5 years of relevant experience
  • Oil ticket – G2 or G1
