Job summary

Carrier is seeking an HVAC Journeyperson to deliver reliable service in Southwest Ontario, covering Mississauga, Niagara Falls, London, Windsor and Sarnia regions from Stoney Creek. You will install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, work independently and with a team, and ensure safety and customer satisfaction.

This role requires a Local 787‑Union membership, 5+ years in HVAC, relevant licenses, and strong diagnostic skills. On‑call rotation and travel within the region are expected.

Qualifications

  • HVAC/Trade School Diploma or Certification.
  • Gas Fitter level 1 License.
  • Hold a valid G‑Class Driver’s License.
  • Holding a 313a refrigeration and air conditioning systems mechanic license.
  • Valid ODP and Working at Heights Certificates.
  • 5+ years working experience in HVAC maintenance, of which installation, replacement, or repairing HVAC equipment.
  • 5+ years working experience with air cooled and/or water cooled chillers.
  • Must be a current member of Local 787‑Union.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical malfunctions and making recommendations.
  • Performing scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling units: Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Fans, AHU, MUA and split systems.
  • Installing, replacing, or repairing equipment and calibrating thermostatic controls.
  • Planning new installations of HVAC equipment as required.
  • Providing estimates of materials required.
  • Participating in startup and commissioning of new units.
  • Establishing strong relationships with customers and their reps.
  • Safely operating company vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
  • Identify safety hazards and implement controls; escalate when needed.
  • Rigging and setting up gantry for lifting equipment and components.
  • Complete required safety training and licensing.
  • Be part of the On-Call Rotation.
  • Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Be customer-focused with problem-solving ability.

About This Role

As a HVAC Journeyperson at Carrier, you will play a vital role in delivering comfort and confidence to our customers, serving as the trusted face of our brand. Your expertise in Commercial HVAC will be essential as you take on a wide range of installation, repair, and maintenance projects.

This position is to work with the Southwest ON Region Service Team based out of our Stoney Creek office, covering Mississauga, Niagara Falls, London - Windsor/Sarnia areas.

Membership to the Local 787 Union is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical malfunctions and making recommendations.
  • Performing regularly scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling units such as Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Fans, AHU, MUA and split systems.
  • Installing, replacing, or repairing equipment; including the need to calibrate thermostatic controls; worn heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning parts and equipment; repair or replace low‑ and high‑pressure liquid lines etc.
  • Assisting in planning of new installations of HVAC equipment as required.
  • Providing estimates of materials required.
  • Participate in startup and commissioning of new units.
  • Establishing and maintain effective relationships with customers and their representatives.
  • Safely operating company vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
  • Recognizing risks and safety hazards commonly found in HVAC operations and implementing appropriate controls to ensure safe work; collaborate with management personnel to maintain safe working environments.
  • Identify situations that require escalation or elevation to Foreman or Service Manager for guidance or need to request additional support.
  • Regularly rig and properly set up gantry for safely lifting equipment, overhauling pumps, chillers etc.
  • Participating in all required safety training and required licensing.
  • Be part of the On-Call Rotation

Required Qualifications

Pay Range

The expected hourly salary range for this role is between $59.00 and $83.00 per hour. The rate of pay may be impacted by factors such as the applicant’s geographic location, market data/range, skills, prior relevant experience, job‑related knowledge, specific degrees and certifications, and/or other relevant considerations. This compensation includes components such as base salary, vacation pay, public holiday pay, potential estimated overtime pay and paid statutory leaves of absence. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, etc., as well as possible RRSP matching.

Other Compensation

This role may also provide the opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation in the form of annual bonus, sales bonus, sales commission or local incentive. If the role provides for an opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation, it will be based on measurable performance factors which may include company performance, individual performance or other key performance indicators.
