What You Will Do
  • Under minimal supervision, you will conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of HVAC control systems, including detailed troubleshooting.
  • Perform assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interaction, service, and mechanical technicians on building automation activities.
  • Proper completion of required project and service documentation is essential.
  • You will provide our customers with the highest level of service to resolve building inefficiencies.
  • Responds to warranty calls.
How You Will Do It
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, calibration, diagnostics, and repair of complex control systems using extensive knowledge of electronic and digital controls, and the ability to test and modify software and graphics.
  • Perform more complex commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete all required commissioning documentation.
  • Consult with customers based on data gathered and site assessments, providing proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements to existing equipment.
  • Provide sales support and technical recommendations to owner sales rep.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure efficient facility operation, including upselling opportunities. Supply quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
  • Keep management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
  • Deliver site-specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
  • Participate in turnover meetings with sales and operations.
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Meet regularly with customers to understand operating issues and recommend system enhancements.
  • Adhere to all JCI and customer safety standards, providing safety leadership and instruction to control technicians.
  • Engage in self-study to maintain technical proficiency in product lines and complete required certifications.
  • Perform other duties related to installing, commissioning, and servicing building controls and energy management systems as assigned.
  • Keep management and customers informed of job progress and issues.
  • Participate in operations to service hand-over meetings with project field teams.
  • Complete administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
  • Document changes and provides information for as-built documentation.
  • Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training, while placing a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
Required
What we look for
  • 3-year diploma in Instrumentation, Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Systems Engineering Technologist or equivalent diploma.
  • 2-3 years of industry experience servicing electronic, controls and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC / BAS industry.
  • Generally required knowledge includes HVAC controls systems, facilities and energy management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical audience.
  • Leadership skills to support the activities of working on complex, critical Building Automation equipment on a job site.
  • PC experience required and the ability to program HVAC-related software.
