Job Description And Related Activities

The Commercial Equipment Project Manager will be a customer-facing role responsible for coordinating activities with stakeholders such as Sales, Service, Field Service, QA/QC, and Engineering teams within Smardt, as well as externally with customer project teams and sales representatives.

This role manages all post-sale activities from submittal, equipment release, testing (if required), to on-site installation and handoff to the end user.

The Project Manager will support sales with equipment selection, drawings, performance, and pricing, contributing to business growth and customer satisfaction. Key objectives include improving customer experience, identifying process improvements, and supporting implementation.

Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with the Commercial Sales Application Engineers to drive business growth in the Americas.
  2. Manage submittals after receiving purchase orders, providing customer collateral as needed.
  3. Coordinate with Engineering for drawings and technical documents.
  4. Work with Sales to release projects and sign off on production plans.
  5. Process Change Orders post-project release.
  6. Clarify questions from Engineering, QA/QC, and Production during manufacturing.
  7. Coordinate equipment delivery and start-up activities with departments and service teams.
  8. Address warranty items and work with sales representatives on project meetings.
  9. Assist in project close-out activities, including drawings, customer training, and record submittals.
  10. Manage third-party contractors for start-up and related work as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, preferred.
  • Construction Management Degree considered with relevant HVAC project experience.
  • 3-5 years of project engineering/management experience in HVAC.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
