Where will you be working?

This role will be within our MEICA and capital maintenance- Our Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) experts offer a one-stop solution, including ongoing operation and maintenance services.

This is a skilled technician role responsible for undertaking substation installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance activities across the DNO’s HV network (typically up to 132kV). The technician must work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all statutory regulations, DNO procedures, and industry standards.

The role holder will ensure that work supports the safe and reliable operation of the HV network, including preventative maintenance, fault response, and asset condition reporting.

What will you be doing?

  • You'll be carrying out HV substation installation and fitting works in accordance with DNO standards.
  • You'll assist with commissioning, inspection, testing, and maintenance of HV equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, busbars, earthing systems, and isolators.
  • Read and interpret substation drawings, wiring schematics, and switching schedules.
  • Support fault location, diagnostics, and repairs under supervision of an SAP.
  • You'll HV test equipment safely and accurately (e.g., insulation testers, VLF, Ductor, etc.).
  • Maintain safety from the system using appropriate control measures, permits, and isolation procedures.
