Human Resources Specialist

Job Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented individual to join the Northern Peak HR Consulting team as a Human Resources Specialist. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing HR support to our clients in Northwestern Ontario.

Company and Location:

Northern Peak HR Consulting:The position will be based in Thunder Bay with significant travel within the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and provide guidance on all Human Resources policies, ensuring they align with legislative requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on a variety of human resources topics to enhance both employee knowledge and compliance.
  • Oversee and ensure health and safety compliance for client workplaces.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving employee relations as well as organizational culture.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for clients, from job postings to the selection of qualified candidates.
  • Clearly communicate human resources policies and procedures to staff, ensuring transparency together with consistency.
  • Manage client documentation and maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Conduct investigations related to workplace issues, including harassment and misconduct.
  • Finally, facilitate new employee orientation and provide administrative training to ensure a smooth onboarding process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years of Human Resources experience.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, labour relations, and employee relations is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Willingness and ability to travel within the region.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with initiative to work under minimal supervision.
  • You must be able to use a personal vehicle for work-related travel.
