An established industry player is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead HR functions and support management in a unionized environment. Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma with a focus on Human Resources Management and/or Industrial Relations or related
  • Currently working towards OR already having obtained a CHRP designation an asset
  • 7 yrs+ direct progressive industrial work experience in Human Resources up to Manager level
  • Experience with a unionized environment and dealing with CBA matters
  • Experience with WSIB and Health & Safety program administration
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive HR support to management and non-management employees within applicable legislative guidelines as well as terms of CBA
  • Responsible for implementation of policies, programs and procedures regarding all Human Resource functions
  • Work closely with Operations Manager and Chief Operating Officer to deliver internal and external customer support
  • Develop, coordinate and deliver HR programs, ensure compliance with relevant legislations, organizational policies and CBA to reduce related corporate risks
  • Build strong relations with the management team, employees and the union utilizing proactive, cooperative and collaborative problem solving approaches and communication techniques
  • Provide labour relations advice including administration and consistent interpretation of CBA and advising management on grievance administration and negotiations
  • Develop and implement an effective recruitment strategy to attract qualified candidates to strengthen the quality of the workforce
  • Maintain and enhance training and development programs to ensure a competent workforce
  • Oversee performance appraisal programs
  • Manage corrective discipline program
  • Ensure employee records are maintained and up to date
  • Oversee WSIB claims process (including review and analysis of benefit claims) and Health & Safety programs and ensure RTW programs are effective and adhered to
