POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead and oversee all HR functions across our Canadian and U.S. operations. This role plays a key part in driving compliance, fostering strong labour relations, and supporting effective workforce management in both unionized and non-unionized environments. The HR Manager will balance strategic initiatives with hands-on operational support, ensuring that day-to-day needs are met while advancing long-term organizational goals. In addition, this position will partner closely with our Safety & Compliance, Training Institute, and Payroll & Benefits teams to ensure processes and procedures are followed and department objectives are successfully achieved.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

In this role, you will contribute to both strategic initiatives and day-to-day HR operations, with responsibilities that include:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop HR team members to drive performance, accountability, and growth.
  • Partner with managers to provide guidance on performance, engagement, employee development, and overall people management.

Employee & Labour Relations

  • Support a unionized workforce by interpreting collective agreements and participating in laborr relations activities.
  • Serve as the primary HR liaison with union executives, maintaining professional and collaborative communication.
  • Address union inquiries, concerns, and grievances in alignment with collective agreements.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and recommend appropriate actions.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies across Canada and the USA.
  • Oversee preparation and maintenance of accurate employee records, files, and reports.
  • Manage compensation processes, including market analysis and annual salary reviews.
  • Contribute to organizational 5S initiatives by maintaining an organized and efficient work environment, including electronic files and shared spaces.

Recruitment, Engagement & Culture

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning for both unionized and non-unionized teams.
  • Plan, budget, and execute employee recognition and engagement events (e.g., holiday parties, recognition programs, social committee initiatives).

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Labour Relations.
  • 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including people leadership, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to work with unionized workforces, including interpreting collective agreements, handling grievances, and supporting labour relations.
  • Broad HR expertise in performance management, employee relations, recruitment, talent development, and compensation.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to coach and develop HR team members and support managers in leading engaged, high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, payroll, Microsoft Office Suite, and reporting tools.
