Job description

The Human Resources Manager is a key leadership role in the retail store, responsible for recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, recognition, and administration of company HR programs. Works closely with managers, employees, and business partners to implement policies and procedures and to enhance the employee experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure HR programs and processes align with Cabela's & Bass Pro Shops Mission, Values, and HR best practices.
  • Provide day-to-day HR services including recruitment, training, and employee relations.
  • Support business objectives through administration and reporting.
  • Partner with managers to develop recruitment plans for each department.
  • Maintain accuracy of time & labor HRIS and payroll documentation.
  • Build relationships with managers to understand business needs and deliver effective HR services.
  • Support decision-making by preparing business cases and managing case files related to compensation, discipline, disability, and workers' compensation.
  • Lead or support investigations into employee misconduct.
  • Advise managers on performance management processes.
  • Collaborate with the Canada HR leadership team to ensure consistent HR programming across Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops in Canada.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in business or related field preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Human Resources in a generalist, employee-facing role; retail experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of provincial employment legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong coaching abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills with ability to learn new systems.
  • Knowledge or experience in outdoor activities and related products is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, continuous improvement environment.
  • Flexible availability, including ability to work retail hours, weekends, and evenings as needed.
