Ensures the HR strategy aligns with the business and strategic objectives. Ensure there is balance of workload within the HR team encompassing a wide range of functions and expectations including business partnerships and guidance, labor relations, HR policies and processes, collective agreement negotiations, legal compliance and interculture awareness.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure the facility operates in full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations
  • Ensure all employees are held accountable for our safety and environmental systems.
  • Ensure company policies and values are implemented and maintained throughout the organization and all legal requirements are met.
  • Work with the senior leadership team on budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, reporting systems, cost containment and company policies all designed to foster growth, profitability, and efficiencies within the company.
  • Collective bargaining along with grievance and discipline management.
  • Conduct internal investigations to gather facts related to disputes, complaints and incidents.
  • Acts as a trusted HR advisor to senior leadership across the organization.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a related field of study.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience with an employer that has multiple bargaining units.
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in labor relations and employment law in a unionized environment.

Skills and knowledge

  • Insightful, self-aware, and able to listen to employees and integrate feedback into the operations.
  • Strong belief in continuous improvement
  • Ability to understand market trends and drive business decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills with an aptitude for translating quantitative and qualitative data into actionable plans.
  • Excellent organizational skills including planning, prioritizing, and delegating.
