Job Description
The Human Resources Manager will oversee and manage the HR functions within the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering a positive work environment. This role involves developing and implementing human resources strategies, policies, and initiatives that support organizational growth and employee engagement. The HR Manager will be responsible for recruitment, performance management, employee relations, compliance with labor laws, and overseeing compensation and benefits programs. Additionally, this role will focus on cultivating a diverse, inclusive workplace while maintaining effective communication across all levels of the organization. The HR Manager will work closely with leadership to ensure that human resources practices are aligned with the overall business goals and support the development of a strong organizational culture.

Department: Human Resources
Schedule: 35 hours per week
Closing date: Open until filled.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization’s goals, culture, and community values.
  • Facilitate communication between leadership and employees, addressing concerns and fostering a positive, respectful work environment.
  • Oversee recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring alignment with both organizational and community needs.
  • Design and implement HR policies, systems, and training programs to support organizational growth, talent development, as well as compliance with applicable laws.
  • Manage compensation, performance evaluations, and HR metrics to promote high performance and employee well-being.
  • Ensure all HR practices respect Indigenous traditions, laws, and values while maintaining legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Lastly, perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Skilled in using HR metrics, systems, and databases to inform decision-making.
  • Proven ability to develop HR strategies and lead teams effectively.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Further, strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all company levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of as well as respect for the culture, traditions, practices of Ojibway’s of Onigaming is considered an asset.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an HR Manager or similar role, with a strong focus on results and people management.
  • Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check
