Job description

Venor is thrilled to partner with our client, Cal LeGrow Insurance & Financial Group and McLeod Lorway to lead their search for a Human Resources Manager. The HR Manager will play a key role in shaping and executing the organization’s HR strategic direction. This role encompasses recruitment, performance management, onboarding, and the development of HR strategies that align with business goals. The HR Manager will collaborate with leadership to create and implement policies that foster a thriving workplace culture while ensuring compliance with employment laws.

This position will be responsible for Human Resources Management for both organizations; together, there are 14 locations between Newfoundland Labrador and Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will be required to travel within Atlantic Canada.

What you’ll be doing:

Strategic HR Implementation:

  • Develop and execute HR strategies that support the organization’s growth and long-term success.
  • Align HR initiatives with business objectives to enhance productivity, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Lead workforce planning efforts to anticipate future talent needs.
  • Establish HR policies and programs that improve efficiency, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Analyze HR metrics and trends to refine strategies for talent acquisition, retention, and development.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:

  • Design and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Partner with department heads to assess hiring needs and create job descriptions.
  • Utilize multiple sourcing methods, including job boards, networking, and employer branding.

Performance Management:

  • Develop and maintain performance management frameworks to drive employee growth.
  • Oversee regular evaluations and provide feedback to managers and leadership regarding performance management.
  • Implement training and development programs that enhance skill-building and leadership.
  • Address performance-related concerns and support managers in creating development plans.

Onboarding & Employee Integration:

  • Oversee the onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
  • Conduct/oversee orientation sessions that introduce employees to company culture, policies, and values.
  • Monitor new hire retention and engagement to improve onboarding effectiveness.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in HR strategy, talent management, and policy implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws in both Newfoundland Labrador and Nova Scotia, compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and workforce analytics.
