Position Overview
As the HR Generalist, you will serve as a key point of contact for employees, Supervisors and Managers regarding HR-related inquiries and ensure smooth and efficient HR operations, along with supporting various HR functions and activities within the organization. This position provides operational assistance to the HR team, facilitates employee onboarding and offboarding processes, maintains HR records and databases, and supports HR projects and initiatives.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
Location: Niagara region with regular travel to the GTA required.
Note: Location and hours may vary based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, policies, and procedures.
- Efficiently coordinate and administer the onboarding process for new hires, overseeing pre-employment activities, orientation programs, and completion of required documentation, while conducting employee orientations and ensuring the provision of necessary information and resources to new hires.
- Prepare various types of employment letters i.e.: promotions, salary changes, employment confirmation, title changes etc.
- Assist with the offboarding process, including conducting exit interviews, preparing letters and execute terminations, facilitating the return of company property, etc.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, benefits enrollment, performance evaluations, and training records.
- Support employee engagement activities
- Assist in resolving employee inquiries, issues, and conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
- Support departmental and people managers on interpretation and administration of policies and processes.
- Ensure organizational compliance regarding employment legislation and supports audits, reporting, and policy updates related to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Supports development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align staff with the strategic goals of the organization.
- Support recruitment & selection activities including posting, sourcing, conducting interviews, and writing offer letters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of progressive HR experience preferably within manufacturing environment.
- Familiar with HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation specific to Ontario (i.e. Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping and data management.
- Proficient with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Dayforce experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal/written) skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects with overlapping deadlines and priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound judgments.
- A high degree of professionalism and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license to travel between sites is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to drive between sites as required.
Work Environment
- Mainly office however Industrial/manufacturing facility visits required.
