Reporting to the Director of HR, the HR Generalist is responsible for helping scale the operations of BD Diesel by providing excellent and professional HR services to BD’s employees. The HR Generalist will partner with departments to support initiatives and resolve issues to solve business challenges and enable the company's growth across North America.

This role is based in our Abbotsford location and is a fully onsite role.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Support end-to-end recruitment processes including job postings, screening, interviewing, references, and selecting candidates to meet organizational needs.
  2. Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the company.
  3. Manage and maintain the Human Resource Information System (ADP WorkforceNow), ensuring accurate and up-to-date employee records in conjunction with the payroll department.
  4. Address and resolve employee inquiries and issues, fostering a positive work environment and maintaining employee satisfaction.
  5. Prepare employment agreements for candidates, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
  6. Ensure HR practices comply with federal and provincial regulations, including labor laws and company policies.
  7. Identify training needs, develop training programs, and coordinate professional development opportunities for employees.
  8. Prepare and manage employee paperwork, including policies, agreements, and other HR documentation related to employment status changes.
  9. Assist with the implementation and management of health and safety programs to ensure a safe working environment. Participate in the joint health & safety committee.
  10. Process employee terminations and exit interviews, ensuring employees are offboarded respectfully and information is received to help improve the process.
  11. Run and analyze monthly reports from the HRIS to identify trends, escalating to your manager for review.
  12. Provide support and coverage for payroll processing during vacation periods, ensuring accurate and timely payroll administration.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Working Conditions
  • Office / production facility environment.
  • Steel toes and other personal protective equipment required when on the production floor.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, or equivalent, from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Human Resources role, with a proven track record in recruitment, employee relations, and policy administration.
  • CPHR designation (or working towards) or equivalent is required.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, employment law, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS administration and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
