Tasks
- Administer staff consultation and grievance procedures
- Coordinate the activities of the HR department to ensure they meet the organization's goals
- Review HR projects to assure compliance with laws and regulations
- Train staff
- Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, benefit programs, and collective agreements
- Plan, develop, and implement recruitment strategies
- Administer benefit employment equity and other human resources programs
- Manage contracts
- Oversee the analysis of employee data and information
- Oversee the preparation of reports
- Respond to employee questions and complaints
- Advise managers and employees on staffing policies and procedures
- Provide customer service
- Recruit and hire staff
- Propose improvements to methods, systems, and procedures
- Establish contact for interview by telephone or in person
- Determine the eligibility of persons applying for benefits
- Contact potential applicants to arrange interviews
- Conduct interviews
- Conduct reference checks
- Coordinate and participate in selection and examination boards to evaluate candidates
- Complete and submit documentation for the administration of benefits such as pension plans, leaves, share savings, employment, and medical insurance
- Provide information concerning group and individual insurance packages, the range of risk coverage, benefits paid, and other policy features
