A leading organization focused on breaking the cycle of homelessness is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to support HR programs and strategies. This role involves administrative responsibilities across recruitment and HR systems to enhance service delivery and compliance with organizational policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in human resources, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in HR or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in human resources or administration an asset.
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards Act and Ontario Human Rights Code.

Job description

Mission Statement: Homes First Society develops and provides affordable, stable housing and support services to break the cycle of homelessness for people with the fewest housing options.

Where: 90 Shuter Street / Hybrid

Position type: Full time, Permanent

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm with some flexibility

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: to be discussed

The Human Resources Coordinator supports HR programs and strategies by providing administrative support in all areas with a focus on recruitment, while ensuring adherence to the mission statement, policies and procedures of Homes First.


Job Description:

  • Assisting in the administration of all human resource systems & programs.
  • Complete pre-screen phone interviews
  • Review resumes for qualifications and experience
  • Participate on interview panels
  • Creating and updating job postings, job descriptions and performance reviews.
  • Lending administrative assistance with the Relief Staff Shelter Training
  • Ensuring Dayforce completion status and onboarding paperwork is completed for all new relief staff.
  • Maintenance of employee records
  • Creating and updating forms as well as policies and procedures
  • Provide back up for other team members when away to support in all areas of HR
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Able to work independently and in inter-dependent teams
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in human resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience in human resources or administration an asset
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Working in an environment where there may be smoke is required.
