SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Coordinates Human Resources activities related to staffing, onboarding, training, leave management, health and safety and employee movements. Acts as a front-line resource for the organization’s staff with regard to most HR programs. Provides technical and administrative support and acts as a main point of contact for Human Resources programs, processes and information systems (My GCHR and Phoenix).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates technical and administrative actions related to staffing, leaves of absences, health and safety, and employee movements; communicates directly with the persons concerned, drafts letters and other documents, interprets existing directives, prepares authorization documents and follows up on these.
  2. Responds to first-level requests for information from internal and external collaborators on HR activities, HR systems’ self-service modules, policies and procedures, and helps find solutions to problematic situations.
  3. Inputs employee movements into the HR system (My GCHR), ensures they’re integrated into the pay system (Phoenix) and participates in quality assurance checks.
  4. Works closely with the Finance, studios and other NFB departments and, where applicable, other government agencies, to ensure efficient processing of HR actions.
  5. Carries out checks to ensure the integrity of administrative processing; performs calculations according to the rules set out in collective agreements or directives in effect, verifies that all required actions are completed.
  6. Prepares data, reports and documents: letters, ad hoc reports, performance indicators, official languages and labour relations, etc.
  7. Carries out cyclical HR activities, including drafting and updating standard communications, follow-up and monitoring reports, year-end processes and updating HR documentation.
  8. Participates in the coordination of employee wellness awareness, training and skills-development initiatives.
  9. Performs various file-management tasks, including filing and archiving.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. College diploma in Accounting, Office Automation, Administration, Human Resources or equivalent;
  2. Approximately three (3) years’ relevant experience in a similar position within a human resources or administrative group;
  3. Good knowledge of the Office suite, including Excel at intermediate level, as well as knowledge of human resources information systems such as PeopleSoft;
  4. Bilingualism in the official languages (French and English), both orally and in writing.
