CA$85,135.00/yr - CA$128,548.00/yr

As a Human Resources (HR) Consultant, Respectful Workplace Investigations, you will examine and investigate high profile and high-risk workplace incidents of a serious or offensive behavior. You will use trauma-informed methodology focused on employee experience to create and model leading investigative practices. You will gather information objectively, understand relevant systems and policies, and apply analytical reasoning to determine facts and present clear and concise written findings. Primary duties include:

  • Impartially investigate respectful workplace and human rights concerns and write clear and concise reports summarizing findings and recommendations and apply appropriate City policy and legislation.
  • Stay well-informed of related legislation and jurisprudence around related societal trends and investigative practices.
  • Collaborate with partners to conduct surveys of the industry and/or market on a national level to identify emerging investigation and interview trends and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist with the maintenance of educational content, communication tools and templates related to respectful workplace investigations in a variety of mediums.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Social Sciences, Human Resources, or a related discipline and at least 5 years of experience investigating complex respectful workplace issues, preferably in a large, complex organization.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Expertise in writing clear and concise reports is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with investigation experience in a unionized environment.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) and access to a personal vehicle for business use, or reliable transportation to access remote work sites.
  • Specialized investigation training, and/or a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation will be considered an asset.
  • The ability to manage competing interests, multiple priorities and simultaneous deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Success in this role requires a resilient individual with well-developed communication skills, high attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, sound judgement, initiative, and practical decision making.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
