The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced HR Consultant to provide expert guidance throughout our recruitment and hiring process. This is a flexible, part-time contract role ideal for an independent HR professional. You will be our go-to expert for crafting compelling job descriptions, managing postings, screening candidates, and participating in interviews for key construction and related management roles. Your expertise will be crucial in helping us attract and hire top talent in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Job Post Creation: Collaborate with company leadership to understand role requirements (e.g., Operation Manager, Site Manager, Project Manager, Site Superintendent, Project Coordinator) and develop effective job descriptions.
  2. Job Posting & Sourcing: Manage postings on relevant platforms and proactively source candidates from the construction sector.
  3. Candidate Screening: Review applications, resumes, and cover letters to shortlist candidates with relevant experience, such as in concrete formwork, rebar, concrete construction, aligning with our company values.
  4. Interview Participation: Join on-site interviews, ask targeted questions to assess qualifications, and provide objective feedback for hiring decisions.
  5. Process Advising: Provide expert advice on hiring best practices, compliance with British Columbia's employment laws, and strategies to improve recruitment efficiency.
  6. Employment Contracts: Draft and optimize employment contracts ensuring clarity, consistency, and legal compliance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • At least 5 years of proven experience as an HR Consultant, HR Generalist, or Recruiter, with a focus on full hiring cycle.
  • Experience recruiting in the construction industry is a significant asset.
  • Strong understanding of British Columbia's employment standards and human rights legislation.
  • Excellent communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability to attend in-person interviews at our Richmond, BC office as scheduled.
  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin.
