Job Description

The Human Resources Business Partner will be an integral part of the Human Resources Team by providing support and guidance to Managers on all Human Resources related issues. This is a development role and will provide a great deal of opportunity for learning and professional growth. Role responsibilities will increase in scope, congruent with learning.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coach business leaders in resolving complex people and cultural challenges to foster a positive work environment and increase effectiveness as leaders.
  • Provide expert guidance and resolution on complex employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with policies, labour laws, and best practices
  • Maintain Workday (HRIS) data accuracy and consistency through regular audits.
  • Design and implement employee engagement strategies, through surveys, action planning and follow-up initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to ensure alignment between hiring strategies and workforce planning needs.
  • Lead investigations related to employee concerns and workplace issues, compile comprehensive findings and providing strategic recommendations on resolutions, ensuring compliance with policies, labour laws and best practices.
  • Manage employee work eligibility status and liaison with Talent Acquisition, Legal and Senior Management to ensure compliance with policies and immigration laws.
  • Support internal communications strategies to ensure transparency and alignment across teams ensuring successful change management.
  • Support acquisitions, or reorganization initiatives by driving due diligence and manage post-acquisition Human Resources integration.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies across business units in multiple provinces.
  • Partner with business leaders to understand their objectives and provide strategic HR support and guidance.
  • Provide strategic HR recommendations to improve site specific workplace culture and employee engagement.
  • Lead and standardize Absence Management, Onboarding, Offboarding, procedures to increase efficiency and improve employee experience.
  • Conduct and Facilitate management training on Human Resources related topics; performance management, investigations and discipline, employee development, and compliance. (French / English).
  • Manage the Employee referral program, coordinate with Payroll, Talent Acquisition and the Management team
  • Liaison with training and development on training initiatives
  • Manage various employee programs such as Driver Training Reimbursement and Continuing Education programs.
  • Work closely with Payroll, Workday Support, Benefits, and Compensation
  • Coordinate with Talent Acquisition Team to ensure positive onboarding experience
  • Collaborate with Health and Safety Team on health and safety related incidents and coach managers on appropriate next steps
  • Manage leave related absences and coordinate return to work plans, STD / LTD / WSIB / WCB / and job-protected leaves
  • Open medical claims, prepare paperwork, ensure correct pay, benefit coverage, coordinate Return to Work Plans and offers of modified duties
  • Prepare all employee related paperwork
  • Assist managers and employees with Workday (HRIS) inquiries and provide assistance with processes
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

  • A college diploma or university degree, specializing in Human resources is required
  • 5-7 years’ experience working in Human Resources
  • Full bilingualism in English and French is a must
  • CHRP designation preferred
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations and understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage rapidly changing priorities
  • Understanding and knowledge of ESA, Human Rights Code, and OHSA
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload effectively
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to travel
