Job description

The HR Business Partner is a multi-faceted role, responsible for supporting the operations of Human Resources across Canada and the United States. This includes developing and implementing policies, programs, and procedures regarding recruitment, health & safety, human resource planning, employee relations, training and development, and performance management. This role is responsible for supporting several internal departments including Warehouse Operations.

**Please note this is a 14 month contract position**

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Coaching:

  • Provide leadership and coaching to Managers regarding disciplinary actions, performance management, compensation, employee relations, staffing needs, administration of policies, programs, and employment laws across Canada and the United States.
  • Support the leadership team as needed with other duties as required.

Onboarding and Integration:

  • Support new employee onboarding process to ensure successful integration into the workplace and culture.
  • Provide employees with resources they need to succeed on the job, address any concerns, and provide support where needed.

Policy and Program Development:

  • Create policies and programs that meet the training and development needs of the organization in line with corporate values and mission.
  • Be an active member of the Health & Safety Committee, fostering a safe work culture across all facilities.
  • Maintain HR records with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.

Recruitment and Staffing:

  • Manage the full cycle recruitment process: needs analysis, job postings, sourcing, interviewing, selecting, reference checking, and employee offers.
  • Manage the ATS system; maintain records and ensure hiring metrics are reported accurately.

Employee Relations and Communication:

  • Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for voluntary employee terminations and report on findings.
  • Create corporate communications in the areas of new hires, promotions, changes, new policies, employee surveys, benefits, and other information impacting employees.
  • Stay up to date on all Canadian and US employment and safety laws.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead and/or participate in HR continuous improvement projects.

Qualifications:

  • A University or College education in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of related experience involving recruitment, training & development, health and safety, and performance management.
  • Strong networking, interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Curiosity and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to deal discreetly with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
  • A high degree of autonomy and a strong work ethic with a positive team attitude.
  • Experience with ATS/RMS and HRIS (ADP Workforce Now)
  • Knowledge and experience with Canadian/US employment laws.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to wear multiple hats and have fun!

Please note that Hybrid schedule requires that the HR Business Partner be in the office (5070 Whitelaw Road, Guelph Ontario) Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
