Working independently in a busy environment of multiple and conflicting priorities, the HR Assistant provides operational support to the HR team in several functions, including recruitment, onboarding, transfers, departures, and corporate training. The Assistant also provides service to CPA Alberta employees by responding to general HR questions and other requests received. The position reports to the HR Director.
CPA Alberta has offices in Edmonton and Calgary and provides hybrid Telecommuting opportunities (working from home a maximum of 3 days a week).

Please note that this is a 12-month contract position to cover a maternity leave.
What You Bring
- A college diploma or certificate in Human Resources or a related field, along with 1 - 2 years' experience as an HR/Recruitment Administrator or Assistant.
- A combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Intermediate proficiency level in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Detail-oriented with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Highly organized with a proven ability to plan and prioritize conflicting deadlines.
- Passionate about providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to use initiative and solve problems in a professional manner.
What You Will Be Doing
- Primary contact for department email account; responsible for triaging and escalating inquiries to the appropriate HR personnel.
- Supporting the recruitment and interview processes by:
- publishing jobs to job boards
- phone-screening candidates
- scheduling interviews
- completing reference checks
- drafting offer letters
- Coordinating Talent Movement processes, including onboarding, offboarding and transfers.
- Assisting with benefits administration as required.
- Drafting general forms, letters, and other communications as necessary.
- Coordinating processes for key employee celebrations, such as anniversaries and birthdays.
- Supporting the HR Team in the execution of the annual corporate training schedule.
- Accurate and timely filing of documents to employee records.
- Administrating CPA Alberta’s peer-to-peer reward system.
- Assisting in the implementation of other annual HR projects and initiatives as required.
