Job summary

Job description

Human Resource Services Department - Health, Safety and Security

Education Centre

Applications from employees within the Board as well as external applicants will be accepted. Applicants will be considered in the following order:

  1. Qualified permanent ESS/OSSTF Bargaining Unit employees.
  2. Qualified probationary, temporary, and Temporary Hourly Rated (THR) ESS/OSSTF employees.
  3. Qualified external applicants (including employees from other Bargaining Units).

Reporting to the Manager of Health, Safety and Security, the successful candidate will support the activities of the department and its daily operations. This Educational Support Staff position, Level E, involves working 35 hours per week, 12 months per year, starting as soon as possible.

Hours of Work: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm (with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break)

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Health, Safety and Security team.
  • Support employee online training, including loading courses, assigning staff, and managing records in the D2L system.
  • Assist with daily administrative duties in the eBase system, including review and reporting of forms.
  • Maintain health and safety documentation and records systematically.
  • Coordinate first aid and other training sessions, including setup, attendance, and record-keeping.
  • Assist with budget management, invoicing, and procurement activities.
  • Manage training records and chemical inventories, and update related systems and websites.
  • Assist with security administrative tasks, including access requests and documentation updates.
  • Participate in workplace inspections and safety audits.
  • Cross-train with other team members and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma required.
  • Experience or education in health and safety or human resources preferred.
  • Proficiency with IPPS, K212/BAS, Park Lane, Application Server, Microsoft Office, and Google Suites.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with WordPress and knowledge of board policies and Occupational Health and Safety Act are assets.
