POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional designation is an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Training in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is also an asset.

ProfessionalExperience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a similar Human Resource role, preferably in an inter-professional setting and/or a not-for-profit organization.

Key Competencies

  • Knowledge of Employment Legislation: Strong understanding of Ontario's Employment Standards Act, Employment Insurance Act, Pay Equity Act, and relevant legislation for registered health professionals.
  • HR Best Practices:
    Expertise in contemporary HR theories, best practices, and trends for effective talent management and employee relations.
  • HRIS Proficiency: Skilled in HRIS administration and Microsoft Office Suite to streamline HR processes.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Proven ability to implement recruitment strategies and coordinate effective onboarding and retention practices.
  • Performance Evaluation Knowledge: Familiarity with performance and job evaluation systems to support employee growth.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, along with strong organizational skills.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic HR Support & Workforce Planning

  • Collaborate with the Director of People and Culture to align HR practices with organizational objectives.
  • Advise on talent management, including recruitment, retention, and workforce development strategies.
  • Assist in succession and contingency planning for key roles within the organization.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Retention

  • Implement recruitment processes, including preparing job postings, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and completing reference checks.
  • Prepare employment offers, contracts, and relief letters; support seamless onboarding and orientation for new hires.
  • Ensure that orientation programs are up-to-date and introduce new employees as well as students to policies, culture, and values.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, including complaints, conflicts, and disciplinary matters.
  • Advise managers on performance management processes, from goal setting to conducting reviews and providing feedback.

HR Policies, Compliance & Legislative Guidance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HR-related legislation, such as the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Pay Equity Act, and Human Rights Act.
  • Provide interpretation and guidance on HR policies to managers and employees, ensuring consistent application.
  • Support the development, review, and implementation of HR policies based on legislative and organizational needs.

Compensation, Benefits & Records Management

  • Administer employee benefits programs and liaise with providers to resolve issues.
  • Ensure that employees are informed about benefits and that all qualifying employees are enrolled.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including licenses, certifications, and HRIS (Human Resources Information System) updates.

Employee Development & Training

  • Support staff development by coordinating training programs and identifying professional development opportunities.
  • Assist managers in developing employee growth plans and fostering career progression.
  • Coordinate staff engagement initiatives, including recognition programs and center-wide training.

Data & Reporting

  • Collect and analyze HR data to provide insights into trends, such as turnover, training completion, and performance management outcomes.
  • Generate HR reports for internal use and support decision-making on HR practices and improvements.
  • Ensure that all HR records, files, and data systems are standardized, updated, and maintained.
