Job description

  • Serve as the first point of contact for Managers within assigned community portfolios, providing HR guidance and support on all human resources aspects.
  • Advise on and assist with recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Provide expertise on employee relations issues, helping Managers with conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Offer guidance on interpreting and applying HR policies, collective agreements, and employment laws.
  • Support Managers in promoting a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace culture.

2. Employee Support :

  • Act as a resource for employees within the assigned portfolios, addressing inquiries and concerns related to HR policies, benefits, leave management, and workplace practices.
  • Facilitate employee wellness and engagement initiatives, promoting a healthy work environment.
  • Assist in developing and implementing employee recognition programs, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

3. Operational HR Support :

  • Ensure the timely and accurate management of HR processes such as leave tracking, performance reviews, and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with the Director of HR / LR and Program Directors to assess workforce needs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Participate in implementing and maintaining HR systems to track employee records, training, performance, and other HR-related data.

4. Collaboration and Coordination :

  • Work closely with Program Directors to understand and address specific HR needs within their programs.
  • Provide HR insights and support during organizational changes, restructuring, and other significant initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the HR Director and fellow HR Advisors to ensure consistent HR practices across all portfolios.
  • Offer feedback and recommendations to the HR Director on process improvements and the development of HR policies.

5. Compliance and Reporting :

  • Ensure compliance with provincial employment laws, health and safety regulations, and collective agreements.
  • Assist with preparing HR-related reports and performance metrics for management and leadership teams.
  • Monitor and track HR trends and issues within assigned portfolios, ensuring proactive solutions and intervention when necessary.

Requirements

Education & Experience :

  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) designation is an asset.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in HR, preferably in the social services or healthcare sector.
  • Experience with labour relations, collective agreements, and conflict resolution is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and organizational development.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
