Job summary

Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) is seeking a Human Resources Administrator to support HR activities, prepare correspondence and reports, and provide essential administrative assistance. This in-person role reports to the HR Manager and works weekdays, aligned with the department's goals and values.

The position requires a diploma in HRM or Business Administration, at least 1 year in a unionized HR environment (healthcare preferred), and a plan to obtain CHRP within 2 years.

  • Minimum one year experience in a unionized human resources environment, healthcare preferred.
  • Willing to obtain CHRP designation within 2 years of start date.

LOCATION AND ABOUT NHH

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care and palliative care. Post-acute specialty services (PASS) include restorative care and rehabilitation. Mental health care, cancer and supportive care, dialysis and other ambulatory care clinics are offered on an outpatient basis through partnerships with regional centres and nearby specialists. NHH offers a full range of diagnostic services, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and mammography. The hospital serves the catchment area of west Northumberland County. A mixed urban and rural population of approximately 67,000 residents, west Northumberland comprises the Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope, Alderville First Nation and the townships of Hamilton, Cramahe and Alnwick/Haldimand. ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, and working closely with members of the HR Department, the Human Resources Administrator is responsible for providing support in human resources activities, writing and preparing correspondence and reports, providing administrative support, responding to requests for information, and performing administrative duties. This role is comprised of day shifts, Monday through Friday.Working in person, this currently vacant role is performed in accordance with the strategic plan, philosophy, and values of NHH.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or equivalent post secondary education.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a unionized human resources environment, healthcare preferred
  • Willing to obtain CHRP designation within 2 years of start date
  • Knowledge of HR related legislation, policies and best practices

Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
